Filter Cake

Filter cake is a by-product of sugar production used as a lime fertilizer. It is advantageous for farms to use filter cake as a chemical meliorant, which contains up to 70% of CaCO3, 0.3-0.5% of N, 1-2% of P2O5, 0.6-0.9% of K2O, and up to 15% of organic substances. Adding filter cake not only increases the yield of crops (sugar beet — 20-40 с/ha, winter wheat — 5-6 c/ha, perennial grasses — up to 10 c/ha), but also increases the amount of sugar in sugar beet by 0.2-0.4%.
